Our Process

What to Expect

Every great project follows a proven path. Here's how we turn your vision into a living, breathing experience.

The Journey

Five Steps to Your Perfect Home

From first conversation to ongoing support, here's exactly what working with Weave looks like.

STEP 01
1–2 weeks

Discovery

Understanding Your Lifestyle

Every project begins with a conversation — not about technology, but about you. How do you wake up? How do you entertain? What does your ideal evening look like? We visit your home (or review plans for new construction) and listen.

What Happens

  • Initial phone or video consultation (complimentary, 30 minutes)
  • On-site visit to understand your home's architecture and acoustics
  • Lifestyle questionnaire — your routines, preferences, and pain points
  • Discussion of budget expectations and project timeline
  • Introduction to brands and technologies that fit your vision

What You'll Receive

You'll receive a written summary of our conversation and a preliminary scope document outlining the systems we recommend exploring together.

STEP 02
2–4 weeks

Design

Engineering the Invisible

This is where the magic happens. Our design team creates a detailed system plan that maps technology to your lifestyle — every speaker placement, every lighting zone, every automation scene is intentional.

What Happens

  • Detailed system design with equipment specifications
  • Speaker placement plans and acoustic modeling
  • Lighting zone maps and shade automation schedules
  • Network infrastructure design (the backbone of everything)
  • Collaboration with your architect, designer, or builder
  • Formal proposal with transparent, itemized pricing

What You'll Receive

A comprehensive design package you can review, revise, and approve. No surprises — you'll know exactly what you're getting and what it costs before we begin.

STEP 03
1–6 weeks (varies by scope)

Installation

Precision Craftsmanship

Our installation team works with surgical precision. We coordinate with your builder and trades to ensure wiring is run at the right time, equipment is placed perfectly, and nothing is visible that shouldn't be.

What Happens

  • Pre-wire phase: structured cabling, speaker wire, conduit (during rough-in)
  • Trim-out phase: speakers, keypads, screens, and devices installed
  • Equipment rack build and testing in our workshop before delivery
  • On-site rack installation with clean, labeled cable management
  • Coordination with electricians, painters, and finish trades
  • Daily progress updates and photo documentation

What You'll Receive

A fully installed system with every wire hidden, every speaker flush, and every device placed exactly where it belongs. You'll never see the technology — only the results.

STEP 04
1–2 weeks

Programming

Bringing It to Life

Installation is only half the story. Programming is where your system becomes truly yours — custom scenes, voice commands, automation schedules, and one-touch experiences tailored to how you actually live.

What Happens

  • System programming and integration (Josh.ai, Lutron, audio zones)
  • Custom scene creation: 'Good Morning,' 'Movie Night,' 'Entertain,' etc.
  • Voice command training and natural language setup
  • Lighting tuning — color temperature, dimming curves, fade times
  • Audio calibration — EQ, volume leveling, zone balancing
  • Thorough testing of every scenario and edge case

What You'll Receive

A system that responds to your voice, your schedule, and your preferences. Everything works together seamlessly — lights, shades, audio, climate — as one unified experience.

STEP 05
Ongoing

Handoff & Support

Your Home, Perfected

We don't install and disappear. Your handoff includes a personal walkthrough of every system, and our ongoing support means we're always just a phone call away. Your home evolves — and so does your technology.

What Happens

  • Personal walkthrough with every household member
  • Printed quick-start guides for guests and babysitters
  • Client Portal access: documentation, warranties, how-to videos
  • 30-day fine-tuning period — adjustments at no additional cost
  • Priority support line for existing clients
  • Proactive system health monitoring and firmware updates

What You'll Receive

Complete confidence in your system. You'll know how everything works, and you'll know exactly who to call if you ever need anything. We're here for the long run.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked

Answers to the questions we hear most often from homeowners considering a project.

How long does a typical project take from start to finish?

Most projects take 8–16 weeks from initial consultation to handoff. New construction projects align with your build timeline and can span 6–12 months. We'll give you a detailed timeline during the Design phase.

Do I need to be building a new home?

Not at all. While new construction gives us the most flexibility for hidden wiring, we specialize in retrofit installations too. We have creative solutions for running wire invisibly in existing homes.

How much does a typical project cost?

Projects range widely based on scope — from $15,000 for a focused audio zone to $250,000+ for a full-home system. Our Budget Estimator tool can give you a ballpark, and we provide transparent, itemized proposals during the Design phase.

Do you work with my architect or builder?

Absolutely — and we prefer it. Early collaboration with your design and build team ensures technology is planned from the start, not bolted on as an afterthought. We have strong relationships with Charlotte's top architects and builders.

What happens if something breaks after installation?

Call us. We provide ongoing support for all our clients through the Client Portal. Most issues can be resolved remotely within hours. For on-site needs, existing clients receive priority scheduling.

Can I start small and add more later?

Yes — and we plan for this. Our infrastructure design includes provisions for future expansion, so adding zones, rooms, or capabilities later is straightforward and cost-effective.
